Effects at -166°F (-110°C)
How does cryo/cold therapy work?
Cryotherapy (Greek “kryo”: cold), also known as cold therapy, is a practice used in physical medicine. It consists of both local and systemic application of cold (-166°F (-110°C) air temperature) for therapeutic purposes (alleviation of complaints and improvement of general condition).
The procedure
The aim of applying cold is to rapidly remove heat from the tissue to be treated.
The effect is generally based on vasoconstriction, muscle toning (reduction of internal muscular tension) and an analgesic effect (pain reduction).
A significant part of the positive effect is the effect on nerve-reflex connections between thermal stimuli and their influence on the state of excitation in the peripheral and central nervous system.
Cryo/cold therapy - The effect
Cold has the following physiological effects on tissue structures and tissue processes:
- Blood vessels - vasoconstriction
- Cell metabolism - slowing metabolism
- Capillary permeability (permeability of the smallest blood vessels) - reduction in permeability (this reduces oedema (water retention in the tissue) in particular)
- Tissue inflammation - attenuation of inflammatory processes
- Nerve conduction velocity - reduction in nerve conduction velocity
- Muscle tone - short-term increase and long-term decrease in muscle tone
- Muscle contractility - reduction in muscle contractility
- Viscosity of the synovial fluid - increase in the viscosity of the synovial fluid
Fields of application - Indications
- Inflammatory rheumatic diseases with main manifestations in the joints (rheumatoid arthritis and Bechterev's disease)
- Degenerative rheumatic diseases (arthrosis of large and small joints, also before and after endoprosthetic treatment, post-operative oedema)
- Cervical and lumbar spine syndrome (discopathies, lumbago and sciatica syndrome), also pre- and post-operative
- Tendopathies (tennis elbow, inflammation of the Achilles tendon and heel pain)
- Chronic pain conditions, including primary headaches, pain and stress processing disorders (fibromyalgia)
- Impaired regulation of muscle tone (spasticity) in infantile cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, muscle tension and muscle hardening
- Blunt trauma to the joints and muscles
- Psoriasis without and with joint involvement
- Atopic dermatitis (neurodermatitis) and bronchial asthma
- Muscular fatigue
- Balance disorders and movement coordination disorders
- Disorders of the central activity level (central fatigue symptoms, burn-out syndrome, sympathetic, parasympathetic and depressive reactions, non-organic and pain-related chronic sleep disorders)
- General psychophysical reduction in performance
- Immune response disorders triggered by extreme muscular strain, age-related and/or stress-related functional limitations of the immune system
- Primary hypotonic circulatory regulation disorders
- Painful muscle tension in the area of the lumbar spine
- Tendovaginitis (inflammation of the tendon sheath)
- Cerebral palsy - paralysis caused by damage to the central nervous system (brain)
ARCTISYNC
Advantages
- Little time required and short application time
- No preparation necessary
- Guaranteed -166°F (-110°C) air temperature
- Unique cooling technology: no liquid nitrogen (LN2), no liquid nitrogen tanks
- No unpleasant draughts (fans) in the therapy chamber and no noise pollution
- Effect immediately noticeable (e.g. pain relief)
- Rapid relaxation including feelings of happiness
ARCTISYNC: How the gentle silent relaxation takes place (Using the cold chamber)
A full-body cold chamber is entered wearing a face mask, gloves, shoes and ear protection or headphones. ArctiSync cools uniquely without fans in the therapy chamber and without dangerous liquid nitrogen (LN2). This means that you can feel and really enjoy the cold and its immediate effects in complete relaxation without draughts, air turbulence or noise. A very light mist is naturally created due to the low temperatures (even when breathing out at -166°F (-110°C)). The large viewing window in the chambers provides light and good visibility during your session. The globally unique cooling technology without liquid nitrogen avoids the usual opaque veil.
The cold descends silently and naturally from above and gently caresses the skin. The entire session in the therapy chamber lasts approximately two to four minutes. The treatment can be interrupted or stopped at any time without any problems
